Melton Mowbray is a small market town in rural Leicestershire. Every year at the beginning of October, it becomes a mecca for foodies from all over the country when it hosts the East Midlands Food and Drink Festival. (Dates for this year: 6/7 October)

Admission to the festival costs £6 per person or just £5 for pre-booked tickets and children under 16 go free! Click here to pre-book your tickets now.

Over the two days of the festival, hundreds of exhibitors will be tempting visitors with food and drink of every description. There will also be live demonstrations, including a master class in how to make an authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, from local and celebrity chefs and TV presenters. And the Family, Food and Fun Zone will be putting on plenty of activities for younger visitors.

With places to pause, eat and drink, the festival is a great day out for everyone, whether seriously into food or not! And for those who want to make a weekend of it, there are many places of interest and things to see and do in the area.

As the country's Rural Capital of Food and Drink, Melton Mowbray couldn't be better qualified to host this event.
