About this blog

North East Leicestershire countryside
(c) Louise Lambert
Since 2005 I have been editing and publishing a magazine called Village Connect which is delivered free to homes in rural North Leicestershire, where I live. Leicestershire is not the first county people think of when looking for somewhere to visit in Great Britain even though it has lots going for it - beautiful rolling countryside, picturesque unspoilt villages, and lots to do, especially in the summer, as I've discovered through putting Village Connect together.

Having shared information about places and events on my doorstep for so long, I thought it might be interesting to look at other areas of the country and pass on what I find out about them. Which is how Snapshots of Britain was born.

So, whether you live in Great Britain and want to see more of it, or are thinking of coming here on a visit, I hope the posts I put on here will give you a flavour of what a beautiful and varied country it is. Let me know what you think!

Some nice pieces here Louise. I found you on the UK Tourism community of Google +. I run an overnight canal boat experience called Wandering Duck.

It's great to read some quality info on the otherwise unknown gems of the UK. There are so many of them! Please keep up the good work, and I'll keep an eye out for future posts :-)

Aw thanks for your kind words. I enjoy running this blog (when I have time!) - it's a voyage of discovery for me too!
